Sunday Night Church
What is it?
Sunday Night Church is a different type of church gathering running between 5pm & 8pm every Sunday Night including:
Engage new service from November 2015
Come along at 5pm for coffee and discussion. We’ll be starting The First Look Course which lasts for 4 weeks looking at the life of Jesus through the eyes of doctor and historian, Luke.
The plan is that after Christmas we will be following the same teaching programme as Sunday Night Church giving you a choice of either coming from 5pm-7pm for teaching and then food or 6pm for food followed by worship and teaching..
Like Sunday Night Church, Engage will be a relaxed café style format with discussion. Children are also welcome and free to join in the discussion. We’ll also provide some Bible based puzzles, colouring etc. for them.
Community Life (6pm - 7pm)
The Chapel is open for food and drink including pizza, chips, cake, coffee, tea, cold drinks etc. A prayer group meet in the church lounge to pray for the life of the church and the local community. From time to time, special interest groups and courses run during this time slot and we’re open to the possibility of running Bible study and prayer groups in other languages.
If you want to pray with someone 1-1 during this time, just ask, or if you prefer, just sit and chat over a cuppa. This is also a good opportunity for those learning English through our ESOL classes to drop in and practice their English through conversation and simple English Bible studies.
Dig Deeper (7pm - 8pm)
This is the central part of the evening where we all gather together for a café format Bible study. The aim is to see how God’s Word applies to our daily lives, so we start by discussing a contemporary issue before spending time looking at a Bible passage to discover what it means. There’s plenty of opportunity for discussion in small groups around tables and questions, comments and challenge are welcome. We continue to provide coffee, tea, cake and biscuits throughout the evening.
21CD (6:30pm - 8pm)
21CD runs alongside the main chapel events as a small group for 11-18 year olds. This is a relaxed environment for young people to find out more about the Christian faith and discuss the issues and challenges that they face. There’s also plenty of food, fun and games. 21CD sometimes meet at the Chapel and sometimes in the homes of church members (all those responsible for leading and hosting the group are CRB vetted). Details of where the group are meeting will be announced in the Sunday Morning meetings and via Facebook.
Who is it for?
Sunday Night Church is open to anyone who wants to pop in. You are welcome to join us for all or part of the evening. Some people come along for Community Life and then head home while others arrive for Dig Deeper.
The evening programme is particularly suitable for people who
-Want to find out about God and the Bible without the usual trappings of a traditional church service.
-Want to meet with others for prayer and Bible teaching, but are not always able to make it to a Sunday morning meeting because of work or family commitments.
-Have already attended one of the Sunday morning meetings and want to come back and dig deeper into God’s word in a different environment
